Germany is ready for the European Champs Canoe Polo

This weekend, Hazewinkel (BEL) was home to the last tournament in the ECA cup. The cup is a measurement for national teams on where they stand, to test against other teams and to get even more experience.

The cup is a mix of 3 tournaments (1 in France, 1 in Germany and 1 in Belgium). Points are awarded to national teams based on their result, and the sum is made to see who wins the ECA cup.
Because there is a European Champs later this year, it’s a nice preview of what to expect.

In Essen & Saint Omer, the podium was a mix of several teams, but in Hazewinkel, the German teams took home all the gold medals. In all 4 categories, they won the last tournament.

For the senior men, Italy has shown they were the best throughout the year. Even though they didn’t make it into the finals at the last tournament, they scored the best throughout the year and ended first in the ECA cup.
The top 3 in the Flanderscup for the senior women category is also the top 3 for the ECA cup. Flanderscup winners Germany also win the cup.

The men under 21 category was a bit of a surprise for Belgium. The team pushed through to the finals and even there only lost with the smallest margin from Germany. France, good for the top spot in the ECA cup, must have had a bad day. They ended 5th, well below their expected spot.
